The Trump Rally in Nigeria

Trump wrote on this video “A parade for me in Nigeria, a great honor!” Yes, I did NOT vote for Mr. Trump because of one thing: his attack on education opportunities which enable minority kids to have college education in Harvard, Yale, Princeton, etc is not fair play. Yes, while black kids could need affirmative action to get in, most times, they do not finish bottom of the class.

The Trump Administration is attacking affirmative action policies in unprecedented ways. Kori Cooper shows how these attacks threaten the fundamental human right to equality and education as set forth by the United Nations, and perpetuate White supremacy.

On July 3, 2018, the Trump administration announced that they were repealing pro-affirmative action policies put in place during the Obama administration. In one particular pair of policy guidance documents issued in 2011, the Obama-era Education and Justice Departments informed schools at all levels of education across the country that the Supreme Court has established “the compelling interests” of the states in achieving diversity on the campuses of educational institutions. They concluded that the court “has made clear such steps can include taking account of the race of individual students in a narrowly tailored manner.” The Obama-era policy replaced the Bush administration-era view that discouraged affirmative action. The Bush-era guidance had been removed from the government website during the Obama administration, but has now re-appeared on the US Department of Education website.

If that is the case, it means the system was not fair to them, to have needed help to get in. Removing that protection will stunt a generation of black kids and for that I voted for Biden. In Georgia, we had a black kid who got in via affirmative action but finished top of his class. How is the system fair to him?

This video is possibly Catholics returning from mass or a meeting. Typically, Catholics in Nigeria are against gay rights, abortion, etc. There is nothing in it. I was in Pope John Paul center Abuja in January: Trump is a demi god there because he fights for unborn kids.  I am a religious conservative but I am more concerned about the education of black kids in America. Trump is making things harder for them!
