Splash is Sierra Leone’s first mobile payment system, allowing you to send money to other mobile users using just your phone. It is a mobile payments system – a transformational service allowing mobile phone users in West Africa to send money using just their phone handset
To send money you must register with an agent and load money into your Splash account. You can then send that money to another mobile phone user, using just text messages. Clients using Zain, Africell and Comium networks can be registered on the Splash system. You do not need a bank account to register, and registration is free. Any Zain, Africell or Comium mobile phone can receive money through Splash and the electronic money or “SplashCash” received can be converted to real cash with a Splash Agent.
Splash is partnered with the mobile network operators Airtel, Comium and Africell, and with Guaranty Trust Bank. The service is licensed by by both the Central Bank of SIerra Leone and the National Telecommunications Commission.
