Peter Obi’s Letter As He Withdraws From PDP Presidential Primary, Dumps Party

Peter Obi has left PDP. Senator Abaribe (PDP, Abia) has also left the party. Former Senate deputy president, Ike Ekweremadu (PDP, Enugu), has also left (or leaving) PDP. At the national level, there is no contest: Atiku will likely become the PDP presidential nominee. At the state levels, those anointed by the governors win. Any other thing is noise. You can campaign, and do whatever you want, you have 87% of being elected at the non-presidential level if the governor chooses you.

A professor in Delta state tried four years ago for governorship. On the day of the primary, they gave him the wrong address. By the time he found the right venue, the result had been announced. There is no competition in party politics in Nigeria.

Do not be blindfolded to think your capabilities and competence will matter in Nigerian politics, locally or nationally. To win the delegates of 2027, you need to be taking care of them from now, sustaining cycles of elections.

More will drop … in APC, PDP and other parties, as more understand that in party primaries, there is no competition.

24 May 2022

The National Chairman,

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)

WADATA Plaza Abuja, FCT

NATIONAL CHAIRMAN’S OFFICE Peoples Democratic Party RECEIVED Sign

Dear National Chairman,

Resignation From Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Withdrawal from the Presidential Contest.

I am writing to intimate you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which was conveyed to the Chairman of Agulu Ward 2, Anaocha LGA, Anambra, effective Friday 20 May, 2022. Consequently, am by this letter informing you of my withdrawal for the PDP Presidential Primaries.

It has been a great honour to contribute to nation-building efforts through our party. Unfortunately, recent developments within our party make it practically impossible to continue participating and making such constructive contributions.

Our national challenges are deep-seated and require that we each make profound sacrifices towards rescuing our country. My commitment to rescuing Nigeria remains firm, even if the route differs.

I wish to thank you personally for your graciousness and leadership. I wish you well and best of luck in the service of country.

Sincerely,

Peter Obi, CON

1 THOUGHT ON Peter Obi’s Letter As He Withdraws From PDP Presidential Primary, Dumps Party

  1. I hope Peter Obi runs as president, under whatever party he chooses. I have been contemplating on what a viable ‘third force’ could do in the 2023 election. That insight is very precious to me, it’s something that could give all those who neither like PDP nor APC a great opportunity to gauge their own numbers; something that could come very handy in upending or swinging future elections.

We never have elections with 50% participation rate, so this could be a turning point, if more than 7 million first time voters step forward and shun both APC and PDP, a political tsunami could ensue. This is a great opportunity for everyday Nigerians to break that spell cast on them by fraudulent cabal that have been moving from party to party. At least the PDP showed its hand on time, it became so desperate that it jettisoned the zoning it even codified in its constitution, because it couldn’t look beyond one candidate.

The APC is obviously in a quandary, Buhari will determine who flies the party flag in the presidential election, and being that PDP’s convention comes before that of APC, it’s going to be an uncomfortable wait, before deciding on his head the lot will fall.

We have a chance to shock the mafias, just with protest votes…
