PesaPal is an online and mobile payment system linking buyers and merchants/sellers. Simiar to PayPal, merchants and buyers register and maintain accounts with PesaPal.
Account holders can then receive payments via PesaPal (merchants) or make payments via credit/debit cards, money transfer, M-Pesa money transfers, etc. Account holders can track transactions and manage their accounts through the PesaPal website
PesaPal fills a gap that previous online payment gateways have missed – the unbanked population or those without internationally acceptable credit/debit cards. Although solutions like M-Pesa and Zap have enabled this demographic to make peer-to-peer money transfers, few options enable online merchant payments or cross-network transfers.
