What Risks Do Investor Model in Nigeria?

When Nigeria’s ruling party (APC) named Aliko Dangote as a Presidential Adviser for President Buhari’s re-election campaign, I had expected movement on Dangote Group equities the next day. Largely, I expected massive drops.  You know what? Nothing really happened. Simply, market did not care!

Africa’s richest man and the owner of Dangote Cement Plc, Aliko Dangote, has been named as an adviser for Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election campaign ahead of the February presidential vote.

Now, can someone explain what risks our investors really model in Nigeria? When I read the press release with Aliko Dangote’s name, I was like: How could someone do this to Mr. Dangote even as defunct Skye Bank chairman is being (partly) prosecuted for doing a similar thing to PDP four years ago?

(APC had since clarified that the inclusion was a typo.)
