Prepare for Leadership

PREPARE.

He was born like any other boy in the land. They hid him near a body of water to save him. He was rescued by a princess of the land. They gave him the best education on earth. Egypt was unrivalled on astrology, engineering and interpretation of dreams. He mastered those acts; he was prepared.  And when he appeared before his kindred for a mission he was born for, they marveled that he had studied under the Pharaohs. He had credibility because he had been prepared.

A periwinkle does not produce the precious gem unless it has been scratched. Unless the ore goes through the finest of furnace, it cannot produce the best metal. In great companies, leaders are prepared. They would be tested before they would be tasked to lead.

As was the case of Moses, he looked deep into Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments. Only a man who could interpret MANUALS would be tasked for such jobs. Only a worker who could make sense of the company’s GRAND STRATEGY would be bothered to see one. Moses met all condition-precedents.

Two things happen:

Staff:  why don't we see our company's strategy? You have been there for 10 years and you’ve never seen that document. Simply, management thinks you’re NOT ready. IMPROVE.

Management: Moses shared the commandments with his kindred. It does not make sense to make strategy document a top secret.

A battle through the wilderness of markets cannot be executed when staff & management cannot understand the strategy. Prepare, develop, share and advance the mission.
