Fuel Prices Rise in Neighboring Countries As Nigeria Removes Subsidy

Hahaha - “The prices of petroleum products have nearly doubled in Nigeria’s neighboring countries such as the Benin Republic and Niger Republic – a development linked to the removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria. Citing sources, the BBC reported that prices of petroleum products are being sold for 700 CFA or 800 CFA in the Benin Republic — nearly double the previous price of 450 CFA.”  Nigeria, the Father Christmas, feeding its neighbours.

There is that Igbo proverb where a man with enough food in his house will pray for the only ailment in the house to be hunger (yes, if anyone wants to be sick, make sure your sickness is hunger). It makes sense because he has the cure to hunger: enough food at home.

Nigeria must learn from that proverb on its open borders.
