Plastic Waste
Quote from admiral4eva on July 1, 2018, 12:00 PMRecently china has restricted the kind of plastic waste it allows into the country and the whole world has been wondering what to do with all the growing piles of plastic waste.
Is it too difficult to recycle plastic in an economical and enviromentally way? Is this something Technically difficult and requires a long time to develop the required capabilities in? Could Nigeria potentially help solve this problem first for ourselves and possibly others around the world?

Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on July 1, 2018, 3:54 PMNothing is hard if there is money to be made. The technology is right there somewhere in MIT, Stanford, etc or one of the big companies. Waste recycling is not that a big business since only govts pay. In Nigeria, is there a budget for it? How would you make money doing that? So, the problem is not the technology but the business model.
I promise you that if Nigeria says I want all plastic wastes out in Nigeria in 5 years and I have mapped out $15 billion to pay players, businesses would do it. It does not make sense developing such businesses when there is no obvious customers. I am not sure any state govt has money for waste collection to even care what happens to waste.
