Pay Attention to What Government Does
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on March 31, 2018, 11:24 AMIn Osun state, more than 50% of private nursery and primary schools closed when government did not pay workers for months few years ago. If parents do not get paid, kids go to public schools which are largely free. No one is immune from risks from the government houses. That is why I laugh when some entrepreneurs say they do not care what they do in government houses and Aso Rock.
Today, I want you to care. The ability to thrive in Nigeria is to find priority areas govt of the day has interest. The bulk of money comes from government and doing things where the heart of government is makes sense.
Do not be a businessperson who is lost in markets. Find out what the governor is interested on fixing. Follow where the mind of the president is and plot how to profit.
Always remember that most industries in Nigeria derive disproportionate energy from the public sector. If budget is not read and executed, nothing really moves. We hope we would get to a level where the private sector is sequestered from public sector. In other words, a good percentage of the spending is not generated from government expenditure. But today, this is where we are: what government does matter.

Quote from Francis Oguaju on March 31, 2018, 12:52 PMIt's partly ignorance or lack of awareness that makes some people here to erroneously believe government doesn't matter in what they are doing, until they start looking for their beloved customers, then they discover that government hasn't settled them.
Dealing with governments has several layers, you must not directly deal with them, but never be completely decoupled from them, they are always useful; though the operators misbehave a lot.
Just insert yourself in one of the layers: first order, second order, third order, etc; the money is always on a roundtrip, fix yourself in that revolving door.
