Nigerian Banks Could Sell Branding Rights on Debit Cards
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on May 12, 2018, 10:40 AMIn coming years, I would be expecting Nigerian banks to sell multi-year branding rights on debit cards to companies. That way you can have Konga logo on say Zenith-bank issued debit cards [Nigeria does not have a significant credit system for credit cards]. Users of such cards may get fee-waivers if the brand can bring more customers to the bank. I will take that proposal to Glo, 9Mobile, MTN, Tecno, AirPeace, Dangote, and more. Apple and Goldman have a similar arrangement on credit cards.
Apple and Goldman Sachs are reportedly going to launch a joint credit card bearing the Apple Pay brand. The move could help Apple boost uptake of the payment service, which the Wall Street Journal says has been slower than hoped-for. It's also Goldman's first card, coming at a time when the company is trying to push harder into consumer banking.

You just gave the banks free consultancy service, which can easily bring good money to them, when the right deal is negotiated.
