Microsoft has closed all retail stores, indicating a massive evolution in the retail space.
Microsoft (LinkedIn’s parent company) will permanently close virtually all of its retail locations as it shifts strategy during the pandemic. The tech giant will concentrate on online sales, closing 83 brick and mortar shops while storefronts in New York City, London, Sydney and the Redmond, Washington, campus will be reimagined as experience centers that don’t sell products. Employees at shuttered locations will have the opportunity to stay with the company, which spent nearly a decade working to create a shopping experience similar to Apple’s, CNBC reports.
