Market Systems Working As US Pays Workers To Take PTO
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on April 12, 2021, 9:24 AMSome US companies are paying people to take time out of work. That is amazing and something that shows a market system working. What that means is that people were actually well tracked that when they were at home, they were confirmed to be working, and not seen as being on vacation! So, all those working from home days have now delivered free days for them to go home and rest!
In an effort to get workers to take time off they've accumulated during the pandemic, some employers are offering perks — including bonuses — to nudge them off the clock. PricewaterhouseCoopers is giving workers $250 for every week of vacation they take, up to $1,000 a year. Google is providing an extra paid day off for scheduling PTO. Others, including Citigroup, SAP and LinkedIn, have offered companywide days off or long weekends to help staff recharge. Companies are also trying to avoid vacation request logjams later in the year and minimize payouts of unused vacation time if employees leave.
PTO means Paid Time Off - "PTO is considered to be any time an employee is getting paid while away from work—it's more all-encompassing than “vacation.” Think of it like this: all vacation is PTO while not all PTO is vacation".
