Los Blancos make fantastic upturn to keep tight clasp on potential 35th domestic title

Madrid, on the first day of the week, conquered Sevilla in dramatic fashion to ensure that the title race stayed defined. Madrid have been the recipients of some really good happenings in the past few weeks. On Wednesday, they walked Tuchel's men out of the UCL room by averting a comeback from the blue outfit. Four days later, it was their turn to overhaul a deficit and they did it in grand style at the Ramon Sánchez-Pizjuán. Ivan Rakitic of Sevilla opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a decent free-kick few strides from outside the box which crawled underneath the wall and left Courtois bemused. Sevilla piled on it five minutes later with Erik Lamela slotting into an empty net, causing the crowd to go wild. Camavinga escaped a send-off minutes later with a rough tackle on Anthony Martial that saw the Frenchman walk off the pitch.

It was Madrid's half in the next forty five and Ancelotti's men kick-started with a 50 minute goal from Rodrygo assisted by a nice Dani Carvajal cross. Vinicius had a goal disallowed due to a handball situation but Nacho ultimately got the equalizer nine minutes from time. Benzema wrapped up the euphoric night with a goal in injury time to restore their dominance and claim all three points.

Los Blancos now sit fifteen points ahead of long-time rivals, Barcelona (albeit, the latter have a game in hand) and there surely will be a 35th league trophy in the club's gallery in about a month from now. Sevilla on the other hand must keep battling to stay in the prestigious zone if they are to punch their tickets to next season's UCL.
