Is your name in UBA's published FX/PTA defaulters?
Quote from Ndubuisi Ekekwe on September 26, 2021, 9:59 PMIs your name in UBA's published FX/PTA defaulters? No more theory, it is happening in the real world. The United Bank for Africa (UBA) has published on its website names of people who collected foreign currency on the pretense of PTA and refused to follow the rules. This is the live list.
People, this is happening as stated: “Kindly be informed that customers who contravene the guidelines on FX purchase for Personal/Business Travel Allowance will have their names and Bank Verification number (BVN) published on our website [bank website]. This is in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s mandate and takes immediate effect.”
FX is entering extra time in Nigeria but this remains my call: "only factories and warehouses will save Naira and there is nothing CBN does with commercial banks, BDCs, apps, etc that will save it." Sure, that does not mean that we cannot deal with bad actors.
