The best strategy to expand a consulting business is to share ideas. That is why the elite firms publish whitepapers, working papers, webinars, etc on their sites. It is bait; by the time you come to read, they get you for good. Learn how to share reasonably and tell people what you do. The best sales pitch is done when potential clients are not suited in boardrooms but are going through feeds on LinkedIn, books and blogs.

Have you ever asked why the same politicians are being recycled? They are the visible ones to those that make the calls. Yes, the man is smart but no one knows. But the politician is not as smart but the whole nation knows he knows at least something.

There's an advert on local radio years back, I think it was done in Pidgin but roughly translated as, 'if you don't say who you are, nobody would know you, let alone what you do'. No one becomes famous by keeping mute or hoarding every information at his/her disposal. People only contact who they know, irrespective of competence.

You must share things, make some noise, especially when it does appear that no one is listening; they are all listening, you only find out when the need arises. It's only those who speak we know that can speak, it's impossible to make a case for someone who hasn't spoken anywhere, and yet you claim he/she is the best speaker.
