Apple Terminates Epic Games Developer Account Amidst Ongoing Legal Battle

The battle line is drawn: “The ongoing saga between tech giants Apple and Epic Games has taken a dramatic turn as Apple announces the termination of Epic's developer account. This move comes as a shock to many, especially after the earlier approval of Epic's account just last month. The termination throws into question the future of Fortnite on iOS devices in the EU, following the enactment of the Digital Markets Act (DMA) in the region.”

In Harvard Business Review, I shared some ways African startups can play ICT utilities like Apple, Facebook and Google, because they’re modern water boards, electricity authorities and similar entities: “Overcoming the disruptive challenges posed by these global ICT utilities will be hard” and I listed some suggestions nonetheless, and then summarized:

“Across Africa, consumers may be thrilled to get free high-quality products from global ICT utilities. But local entrepreneurs still struggle to compete. Without these emerging companies, there would not be functioning economies in Africa. Taking the advice above could help these startups gain a competitive edge over global companies. Over time, though, the best way to fix the issue would be to invest in education and infrastructures that can help the continent compete and create category-king companies in global commerce.” (Read in Harvard here)
