If this story turns out to be true, Elon Musk must be regretting it right now since his decision opened for Microsoft to join the party with funds. Had he followed up with his investment, OpenAI may have been a better investment than Twitter right now. Of course, a man who has piles of money does not deserve any pity from common men who have nothing, relatively. In other words, he does not need more money, and losing out in OpenAI is not an issue.

The other founders rejected Musk's offer, causing the mercurial entrepreneur to end his involvement with OpenAI—and to withhold the $900 million of funding that remained in his promised $1 billion contribution.
