Amazon is pulling back on construction of its "HQ2" project in Arlington, Virginia. The initial phase of the highly publicized second headquarters remains on track to be completed this summer, but a second phase — including three 22-story office towers and a signature Helix structure — is paused indefinitely, Bloomberg reports. Like many companies, Amazon embraced remote work during the pandemic. While it ordered corporate employees back to the office three days a week starting in May, it also froze most corporate hiring last year and is laying off 18,000 workers.
