As tech giants Apple and Google map out their futures, their pivot into the auto industry is becoming more clear "now that cars, especially electric ones, are becoming something like smartphones on wheels," The Wall Street Journal reports. Both companies have already begun hitting the gas on partnerships, with Google landing one with Ford last year for its Android operating system, and Apple more recently announcing it will start to roll out its CarPlay dashboard in 2023 with more than a dozen vendors — potentially previewing a long-rumored Apple Car down the road.
