Brant Daugherty's Hopes for His Kids: A Peek into His NSFW Movie Worries

When you think of Brant Daugherty, you might picture him as the charming heartthrob from "Pretty Little Liars". But when it comes to his family life, he's just like any other dad, filled with hopes and concerns. Recently, he opened up about a movie he hopes his children never come across.

“It really makes me happy to have a body of work that I can share with them,” said the actor, married to Kim Daugherty since 2019. “It's going to be a few years before I introduce them to Pretty Little Liars.” And as for the final installment of the 50 Shades trilogy he appeared in alongside Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and Rita Ora in 2018, he joked, “I'll probably never sit them in front of 50 Shades Freed.”

Brant didn’t hold back when he mentioned a particular NSFW movie that makes him cringe. The movie in question is Fifty Shades of Freed. He feels it’s not exactly suitable for kids, and honestly, who could blame him? This film dives into adult themes that can be confusing and inappropriate for younger viewers. It’s a movie that many adults watch with a sense of curiosity, but Daugherty knows it’s best kept away from young eyes.

Brant in interview gushed his oldest, Wilder, is “the sweetest big brother” and is “so loving and kind” to Aero.  2 days before Christmas in 2023 after welcoming youngest, the family is still working on building their own new traditions. “You know, we kind of just started all these things so we’re figuring it out,” said the father of two. Despite this, Brant feels a new family ritual could be brewing sooner than they think. “One of the traditions has been watching, daddy's Christmas movie every year,” the actor teased.

As a parent, Daugherty’s worries are pretty relatable. Every parent has that one movie or show they hope their kids never find. With so much content available, it’s like a minefield out there. One wrong click and kids could end up watching something that raises more questions than answers. Daugherty’s concerns highlight the struggle many parents face today in keeping their children away from unsuitable content.

Brant is electrified for everyone to see Trivia at St. Nick's which is out Nov. 8. Brant shared “You know this is a comedy and it's something different for me, this character,” said the PLL star. “I'm just really excited to share it with everyone and it’s so fun to see a new side of me.”

This film brings some holiday joy and cheer, but it’ll also bring a little nostalgia. Brant shared on Instagram Sept.25 that this film will be a “PLL reunion” since he’s appearing alongside former costar Tammin Sursok. The Hallmark doyen shared that working with Tammin again “was a treat honestly” and “it was such a lovely reunion.”

The reunion even brought the pair closer. “We got to know each other even better than we got to know each other back on Pretty Little Liars,” the writer recounted. Despite the castmates having not seen each other for quite some time, Brant felt the whole cast shared a special bond “by the sheer amount of time” they spent together. Because of that, Brant and Tammin were able to “just jump right back into it,” he explained of working with the actress, who shares Phoenix, 11, and Lennon, 5, with husband Sean McEwen. “To see how far she's come in her life, you know. She's a mother of two and I'm a father of two now.”

It’s tough to find the right balance between entertainment and what’s appropriate for kids. Movies like Fifty Shades of Freed might attract attention due to their popularity, but they’re definitely not family friendly. In a world where kids have more access to screens than ever, knowing what to allow is vital. Daugherty’s insight makes us think about how we guide our kids in an age full of flashy and sometimes risky media.

Discussing these topics with kids is important. It opens up the door for valuable conversations about relationships, boundaries, and respect. Daugherty's perspective encourages parents to create an open environment where kids can ask questions, helping them navigate the complex world of adult themes responsibly.

While Brant Daugherty shines on screen, he’s also just a regular guy trying to do his best for his family. It’s easy to forget that stars have personal lives filled with the same dilemmas as everyone else. His candid remarks remind us that parenting is a journey filled with worries, just like any other.

Brant has hopes to keep it all in the Hallmark Cinematic Universe. The star revealed that he also does keep in touch with some of the cast. “I chat with some of the guys. Torrey Devitto is a friend of mine,” Brant shared. “I know she's in the Hallmark world too. I would love to do something with her at some point.”

Brant Daugherty's hope that his kids don't stumble upon Fifty Shades of Freed is a reflection of a universal parenting concern. As the digital world continues to grow, so do the challenges that come with it. It’s essential for parents to stay aware of what their kids are exposed to. Daugherty’s words echo the need for vigilance and open dialogue about what’s appropriate in an ever-evolving media landscape.
