Yes, while the offense is attacking, the defense can have interception and score a touchdown. The implication is that great teams are ALWAYS READY for opportunities to score.
Opportunities come in many ways. The key is this: You must be ready, always. It is irrelevant whether you hold the ball or not. Even when playing defense, you can get a goal.
