Ask them to turn off Zoom camera
You scheduled that meeting at an odd hour and you want everyone to be on camera. That is a bad idea. If you have a meeting and you do not allow people to turn off that camera, you have a distraction factor to deal with. Period.
I have noticed that when speaking with some of our learners, when on camera, they become over conscious of themselves, and do not focus on the subject like they do when the camera is off. To help many, I tell them that the bandwidth will be better utilized if your camera is off. As soon as that is done, the focus now moves to the subject with better engagement.
No scientific experiment but camera distracts, I conclude: try to offer people options when on Zoom, etc.
