Apple iPhone 4S vs Nokia Lumia 620

The space Apple enjoys in the smartphones market is indeed, to use the cliché, a “neighbor’s’ envy and owner’s’ pride”. But this is a free market where only the fittest is destined to survive. Therefore to give Apple a run for its money and corner a notable share of the market Nokia has teamed up with Microsoft and has launched its Lumia series. A comparison between Apple iPhone 4S and Nokia Lumia 620 will not be out of place. In fact it would be a welcome comparison that will help you choose between the two dudes. Here’s how they stack up. Read on to make an informed choice.

Design

Apple’s iPhone 4S feels great holding in hand. It is a decent smartphone, lightweight and not too chunky. It is available in two colors – black and white. Nokia has been trying a lot to get attention of late and therefore did try to experiment with colorful smartphones. Nokia Lumia 620 is available in bright colors like white, black, yellow, magenta and cyan. Nokia also decided to add transparent color covers to it so that it can change color when you layer them. Well, it is lighter than iPhone 4S. It is just 127g and the Apple’s device is 140g.

Display

Nokia Lumia 620 sports 3.8-inch screen that offers better screen resolution for clear view and its brightness is relatively good and works in bright sunlight as well. The phone can be handled in one hand, whereas larger screens are hard to carry and cannot be operated with one hand. In Apple iPhone the screen is relatively small 3.5 inches and offers resolution of 640 x 960 pixels that makes the screen useful to view and can be handled in one hand too.

Hardware

The System chip used in Lumia 620 is Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with Dual core, 100 MHz processor; it runs on Windows Phone 8 with Internet Explorer 10, which offers better browsing capabilities. The phone also offers Sky Drive storage system and can be accessed in Xbox Media Store; built in storage capacity in Lumia is 8GB and can be expandable up to 64 GB. Where in Apple iPhone 4S uses system chip that is Apple A5 with Cortex-A9 processor, built in storage is 16GB and the only drawback is it is not expandable.

Camera

Nokia Lumia 620 with 5 megapixel camera is good enough, and its front facing VGA camera is decent for video calls and has LED flash. The camera also has geo-tagging feature. Apple iPhone 4S is mounted with 8 MP camera and other added facilities are touch focus and face detection.

Battery

Both the phones are carrying same battery type Li-Ion, which gives a talk time of 14.6 hours for Lumia 620 and 14 hours on for iPhone 4S on 2G network. In 3G connection the duration are 9.9 hours and 8 hours respectively. If you are a music lover then Lumia will give you 61 hours backup time to listen to music and for video playback it supports 6 hours of playing. Apple iPhone 4S on the other hand supports 40 hours music playing and 10 hours of video playing.

Well, which phone to go for now? If you are a confirmed Apple fan Nokia is sure to lose out. But if you are not going to your nearest mobile store and get a hang of both the devices, you won’t be able to practically make out the difference of your criteria. Neither are bad. In fact both would be ready to outperform each other. Get a feel of both the devices and go for the one that better suits your budget. I assure, you will not have to repent your choice whatever it might be.

You forgot to mention about the different type of lenses such as cinemagraph for the lumia.
    :-)

    Err, can you clarify this?
    “and its
front facing VGA camera is decent
for video calls and has LED flash.”
    Front facing camera with flash?
