The Galaxy S II smartphone has been named the Best Smartphone in the GSMA’s Global Mobile Awards 2012, which took place during MWC in Barcelona this week.

Last year, Apple scooped the Best Smartphone prize for its iPhone 4. However, the company can’t be too disappointed as the iPad 2 was awarded Best Mobile Tablet 2012.

Nokia was also highly commended at this year’s Global Mobile Awards, with its C3 phone winning the Best Feature Phone or Entry Level Phone award. Plus, the Nokia 808 PureView bagged Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet at MWC 2012.

  1. Sorry to the other Samsung lovers, but I am not a fan. After two Samsung “smart” phone models (and three replacements for defective phones) I won’t buy another. With their freeze ups and other quirks, as well as no software upgrades to fix lingering problems after three years (but they do apply the fixes to cheaper, later release freebie models), I am looking elsewhere.
