Guaranty Trust Bank plc has introduced a new e-account for undergraduates and students in higher institutes of learning called ‘The GTCrea8 eSavers Account’. The new account, which is the first offering of its kind by any Nigerian Bank, is designed to make it more convenient for undergraduates to manage their financial affairs and notch up acceptable service standards within the industry.
The GTCrea8 eSavers account is an interest bearing card account that allows students conveniently carry out all their banking activities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from anywhere in the world, without having to step into a banking hall.
According to Mr. Segun Agbaje, Managing Director/CEO of the Bank, the new account is a virtual account built on the familiarities of the standard ‘Generation Y’ customer. He said ‘The modern day student is typically very agile, mobile and technology savvy. They are very time conscious and have their own set of expectations regarding what is acceptable banking service’.
Mr. Agbaje further explained that GTCrea8 eSavers account holders are not constrained to the 8am to 5pm banking day because they can make cash withdrawals via ATMs anytime of the day or night. They can also effect 3rd party local and offshore payments/transfers from the comfort of their homes and make purchases at stores/malls and the World Wide Web using their eSavers card.
He concluded by saying ‘the ramifications of this product are far reaching, especially with the every growing need to consistently balance the impact of economic activity on the safety of the environment. GTCRea8 eSavers is a ‘Green’ or environment friendly account whose virtual attributes will ensure less paper and carbon energy is used to service the burgeoning Nigerian youth market; an objective that is in line with our CSR policy of aligning business practices with environmental safety.
